I headed back home this weekend to visit some good buddies and we decided to head out to one of their farms and do a little late night scouting. It was a great time catching up with the boys and seeing some good bucks that hopefully they will get a crack at this fall!
Mr. Badger celebrating that Mrs. Badger is outta town for a few days and he has the field to himself!
Early Season Rub lines
Here is a highlight of the past few weeks of walleye fishing with the crew. It's never a dull moment whether it's in our glorified ice shack, AKA The Pioneer on Long Lake, or actually on the ice waiting for the flags to pop. This year has been much slower for quality fish but the good times make it all worth the wait!
First video of flat liner with no velvet! I have to admit he doesn't look as impressive with out the velvet but he is still on the hit list! If he keeps coming out during the daylight his days may be numbered!
This hunt was in 2008 on an October evening. I missed this buck at 7 yards as he came in on a string right to my tree that night...I never did get a trail cam pic of him that year but in 2009 I got a few of him and was able to see him out of the stand. I nick named him showtime because he grew up to be a stud in 09'. Hopefully he made it through the shotgun season and will be around this year!
2010 Bow Season is finally here! Keep checking us out on Talkin Trophys as we will keep posting video blogs on how our season unfolds!
Springtime Tom doing his thing
My buddy and I just smoked a doe on film and just got done cleaning it out when this buck walked right up to us. We were a little rutted up and got pretty excited about what was happening! It was a pretty cool encounter even though he was a young deer. My buddy was going to shoot but he never gave us an angle, and not to mention he was staring at us the entire time!
Some of the Talkin Trophys crew was fortunate enough to kick off their season two weeks early up in North Dakota this past weekend. They headed north to meet up with a old an friend with tags in their back pockets. The anticipation was high as they traveled 9 long hours in hopes of harvesting some mature whitetails.
Here is the story of my first Pope and Young harvest on October 30, 2010. The video says it all, I know its kind of long but I want to share it with everyone! It was a very special day for me in the timber and it is a day I will long remember. This buck had just moved in and that proves just how magical this time of year can be! I hope you enjoy the story! I am sorry I was unable to capture the kill on film he came in on the wrong side of the tree. Thats the price you pay when you dont have a camera man! Either way it was a great day in the tree! Thank you whitetail gods!
A little highlight of my 2010 season so far! Lots of does and young boys, high hopes for the next month!
My buddys and I headed north after an exciting and successful week of rut filled action in West Central Wisconsin. Our goal was to do a little doe management and hopefully catch it all on film. One night we were up there we went and shined some fields close to the property and we counted 87 does...just does. We didnt see one buck and all of this was in one square mile!!! In all of our years going up to the cabin we have never seen this before. I think its time for some slick heads to be thinned out a bit! A good way to look at it now I guess is that there are now only 86 that we know of for sure haha. This doe wasn't the mother of the woods but she will contribute to thinning out the heard. It was a great weekend with the boys and another hunt good friend Joel and I will never forget!
Here are a few of the bucks John and I were able to get a sneak peak at as the summer progressed. All the hard work and time spent in the woods may soon pay off as we think we have narrowed down these brutes home core areas!! Time will tell if we did our homework correctly!
